Micropile Casing Thread Profiles: V-Thread, Square-Thread and Rope-Thread
Micropile casing is not quoted by outside diameter and wall alone. The connection profile, effective length and mating geometry are part of the casing system, and the thread terminology has to match the project requirement.
V-thread casing
V-thread is one of the thread profiles used on micropile casing connections. The exact pitch, taper, pin-and-box geometry and connection length are project-specific and should be confirmed from the approved drawing or mating requirement.
Square-thread casing
Square-thread is another casing connection profile that appears in micropile and drilling specifications. The name describes the profile family, but it does not replace the dimensions needed to match an existing system.
Rope-thread casing
Rope-thread casing uses a rounded thread form. As with V-thread and square-thread connections, compatibility depends on the actual thread design rather than the label alone.
Connection compatibility comes first
Dark Horse Metals reviews casing outside diameter, wall, grade, effective length, thread profile and pin-and-box details before quote. That keeps the casing requirement tied to the project documents and the mating components.
The thread name is only the starting point
Two casing connections can share a general thread description and still differ in pitch, taper, lead, connection length or wall transition. The approved connection drawing controls the work. Existing mating casing, couplings or a verified sample may also be needed when the project is matching an established system.
Effective length and connection details work together
Micropile casing is installed in sections, so effective length is tied to the completed pin-and-box connection. The quoted casing length, thread profile and finished connection must be treated as one requirement.
Clear thread terminology improves search and communication, but dimensional compatibility is what determines whether the casing belongs in the project.
